With a mother as the church pianist, and her older sister as a soloist, Lorraine began solo singing at the young age of 4 in her home church, Oakey Swamp, where she is still a member today. Lorraine has remained a lifelong soloist. She is a life long choir member, and former director of the children's choir, and former assistant director of the youth choir. She led the Bible School music for several years as well.
Lorraine married a professional musician at the age of 17--Tommy Hucks, who was a former drummer and singer for the country group Alabama before they became famous. Tommy had a great impact upon Lorraine with his love for music. They played and sang together for years for friends and family. Guitars, piano, drums, harmonica-- he was always playing and singing, and taught Lorraine a lot about music. They were blessed with twins, Lora and Brandon, who both won awards for their vocal abilities. Lora learned piano and has been a church pianist for many years. Brandon learned to play the drums.
Tommy suddenly passed away in 2000. In 2004, Lorraine married her current husband, Donny, who has one son. They share the 3 children, 3 grands, and 1 great grand.
In 2007, Lorraine was led to begin a music ministry and recorded her first CD of songs she had been singing for many years. She began hearing stories of how the CD was blessing in places she couldn't physically be, and she knew this was God's call upon her life. She was blessed at that time with a new gift of songwriting, and she has penned approximately 300 songs. She has spent many hours recording as many of these songs as possible, and has thus far recorded 13 albums and is currently working on her first children's album.
Her daughter Lora joined her in her first CD album of original songs in 2008, and they began a duo ministry called Grace Revealed. After 3 years, Lora became full time pianist for her church so was no longer able to travel with Lorraine. Grace Revealed has since evolved into a duo ministry with Lorraine & Ron Stubbs.
Lorraine does not claim to be a great pianist, but she loves to play and played part time for several years for a small church who had no piano player. She began playing and singing with some friends after being asked to do a music service together as a band, thus forming Titus 2:11 Band, which continues today as doors have continued to open for their ministry.
As if ministering as a soloist, with Ron Stubbs as Grace Revealed, and with Titus 2:11 Band wasn't enough, God opened the door for yet a 4th ministry called Growing Heaven with Danielle Skipper (a school teacher) after they co-wrote an album of songs together. They began speaking and singing engagements travelling into churches, women's ministries, children's homes, and SCHOOLS!
Lorraine's music is played regularly on several radio stations and internet programs. She has appeared as a guest gospel soloist on several TV shows.
Lorraine has created music videos to many of her songs as a visual tool to better portray the gospel messages in her songs. She shares these from her YouTube channel onto social media, and has had so many touched through these videos.
She and her husband Donny present The Christmas Story through song and large screen PowerPoint slideshow projection. Lorraine was blessed to write most of the Christmas songs but adds several classics as well. This program has been well received.
Lorraine is so thankful for her husband Donny who is her sound man and set up man for all their equipment. He travels with her wherever she goes. He has learned home recording, recording demos, internet programs, and has recorded several albums for friends.
In addition to her music, Lorraine works part time as a Registered Nurse, She began nursing at the age of 17 while she was in nursing school. She worked for a year with cancer and hospice patients, and felt God led her there to write many songs of His hope as you go through trials and loss and songs about Heaven. She penned a whole album with Hospice in mind, called The Door Of Hope. What a blessing these songs have been!
Lorraine gives God all the glory for her musical gifts, and prays that her music will continue to bless people for many years to come.
